Regarding the constitutional provision that there shall be no religious test for federal office holders, Moscow’s Christ Church pastor Wilson denies a basic right to non-Christian Americans. In the podcast “Extremely American: Inside Christian Nationalism,” Wilson deputy Gabe Rench asserts that in their theocracy non-Christians could not hold elected office.

Rench’s interviewer Heath Druzin was rightly startled. “As a Jewish American, I hear that I can’t run for office and other non-Christians can’t. I have to admit that it’s a little terrifying to me because that means a fundamental freedom of mine is gone.” Rench’s answer is equally startling: “Yeah because your worldview is not good for society.”

Going back in Christ Church records, the status of the Jews is even worst. Writing for the church journal Credenda Agenda Gregory Dickison quotes Deuteronomy 13:6: “If your brother, the son of your mother, your son or your daughter, the wife of your bosom, or your friend who is as your own soul, secretly entices you, saying, “Let us go and serve other gods,”. . . you shall not consent to him or listen to him, nor shall your eye pity him, nor shall you spare him or conceal him; but you shall surely kill him. . . .” Dickison then adds this: “Beware, ye not of the cult (including unconverted Jews)!”

Conservative Christians always rail against Muslims for making apostasy a capital crime. (Of course only the most conservative do, just as with these Christians.) In the same piece, Dickison also promotes another punishment some Muslims practice. He declares that “if we have our way,” a woman who touches a man’s genitals loses the offending hand as punishment.
